Richard Socher’s startup says AI built nearly all of its new coding model, and anyone can download it Recursive, the startup led by You.com founder Richard Socher, released Flint on Wednesday, an open-weight coding model whose weights are free to download from Hugging Face under the Apache 2.0 licence. Recursive says its Eureka Machine automated research system developed "nearly every part" of Flint's model-building stack, and Socher told Wired that "nearly every aspect of the entire model pipeline was actually done and improved upon by AI." Flint is a 39.8-billion-parameter mixture-of-experts model with about 2.5 billion active parameters per token and a 262,144-token context window; Recursive's own unverified benchmarks put it at 89.7% on SWE-bench Pro v2, 74.2% on SWE-bench Verified and 54.9% on Terminal-Bench 2.1, and the company has raised $650 million at a $4.65 billion valuation.
