Retroid Pocket 12GB model makes a return for $244

At a time when handheld manufacturers are announcing price hikes due to memory shortages, the popular retro handheld brand Retroid has managed to release a new variant of its Pocket 6 handheld. The Pocket 6 was released earlier this year with several configs, but Retroid was soon forced to discontinue its 12GB model due to shortages – now it’s making a triumphant return.
The 12GB variant originally shipped with 256GB of storage, safely positioning it as the runaway flagship. This time around, Retroid has had to limit it to 128GB, matching the cheaper 8GB option. The returning 12GB RAM version is now available to purchase and “ready to ship,” says Retroid’s Chris Covers in an announcement post on the company’s official Discord server.

Retroid’s Pocket 6 12GB+128GB variant is priced at $244.00 and is exclusively available with a ‘stick top’ design, which means asymmetrical analog sticks. The 8GB+128GB version still allows customers to opt for a ‘D-pad top’ design, forcing the two analog sticks into a symmetrical design. Likewise, the 12GB model is not available in every colorway – just Silver, 16-bit, and Black.

We can’t say just how long the 12GB version will stick around this time, but the cut from 256GB to just 128GB will certainly help with its longevity on the market at a time when shortages are rife. Given the current market situation, we don’t expect to see a full 12GB + 256GB model arriving any time soon, but it’s nice to see a RAM upgrade nonetheless.

No, I want the Steam Machine to be complete Yes, I would buy a RAM-less version Yes, I would buy an SSD-less version I'd buy a bare bones version with neither component
