According to The Register and The Verge, three independent security researchers at Hacktron compromised OpenAI employee GitHub accounts using Anthropic's Claude Opus 4.8 and 5 in less than 72 hours, gaining access to OpenAI's Monorepo and internal development assets. The incident demonstrates that production AI models can be directed to conduct targeted social engineering and credential theft against high-value targets.
