Real-time Chatbot Romance Scam Detection in Stage Classification A paper submitted to arXiv on 30 September 2026 by Lyn Chao-Ling Chen presents a chatbot that detects romance scams in real time through the Line Messaging API, classifying conversations into stages using seven social-science stage theories and a large language model. When a scam is detected, the chatbot uses the large language model to explain the identified stage and provide prevention advice. The authors describe the work as a practical application intended for real-world use in reducing romance scam risk.
