Rational Animations is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and is looking for board members

Rational Animations, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit producing animated videos on AI safety, is seeking at least two independent board members to join its current three-person board, which consists entirely of staff including two romantic partners. The organization, which received its IRS tax-exemption determination in October 2024, expects board members to commit 10-30 hours per year for quarterly meetings, strategy and budget approvals, and conflict-of-interest decisions. The unpaid position carries a renewable one-year term, with Directors & Officers insurance provided.

The work consists mainly of quarterly meetings, high-level approvals of strategy and budget, review of company performance, and decisions where staff have a conflict of interest, such as compensation.
