# PwC UK chief swipes global role in international shake-up

The UK boss of [PwC](https://www.cityam.com/regulator-opens-probe-into-pwc-over-wh-smith-audit-debacle/) has been appointed to head up a larger role in the Big Four firm’s global network as the consultancy looks to centralise decision-making and reshape its international executive structure.

Marco Amitrano will take up the new position on 1 July in addition to his current post leading the professional services giant’s UK and Middle East operations. His new remit will see him take up more Europe-wide responsibilities alongside partners from PwC’s UK and US businesses.

The shake-up is intended to centralise functions in the firm’s back office and roll out new services such as AI-driven consulting to international clients, according to the Financial Times.

The Big Four giant’s UK and US member firms are the largest of all of PwC’s separate global businesses and lead much of the investment in new technology, including AI, used by the entire global network.

Amitrano, who has been at the firm for 34 years, already leads operations across the Middle East alongside the UK which he will continue to do – but also spend more time in continental Europe.

A senior partner at PwC’s German firm, Marc Billeb, will also be joining the team alongside Amitrano but will not be joining on 1 July.

The reshuffle follows the Big Four firm in April [moving to unify it’s global services ](https://www.cityam.com/pwc-moves-to-unify-global-services-as-ai-reshapes-consulting-sector/)as AI continues to reshape the professional services sector, with PwC drawing up a blueprint to standardise its consultancy services across its global business.

PwC, alongside the other Big Four, has been slashing roles across all its businesses, including [cutting 123 partner roles](https://www.cityam.com/pwc-cuts-partners-and-apprenticeships-amid-slow-demand/) in March last year – more than double the average since 2002.

In September 2025, PwC’s [profits edged up by 0.4 per cent](https://www.cityam.com/pwc-uk-profits-edge-up-as-headcount-reductions-take-effect/) as the redundancies started to take effect, hitting £6.35bn in revenue.
