The limited-time mode allows players to pair up with an advanced AI player, which was spawned from a collaboration between Nvidia and PUBG publishers Krafton. Nvidia says the clever bot has “deep knowledge” of the game and a highly adaptive playstyle. PUBG: Battlegrounds formerly known as PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds still attracts hundreds of thousands of players every day, regularly sitting near the top of Steam’s most played charts. It’s the game that really helped popularize the battle royale genre, beginning as a popular mod for Arma 3 before being developed into a standalone title released in 2017. Since its debut in 2023, the AI-based technology has grown into something that can create autonomous game characters who dynamically interact with the world. PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS’ new Ally Duo Mode Beta is available now through June 30th, via Steam. This introduces PUBG Ally, a highly adaptive, context-aware AI teammate that dynamically adjusts its playstyle based on your commands and emergent battlefield situations. It makes independent decisions such as looting, fighting and navigating to support you, all without requiring continuous prompting. Capable of understanding both voice and text inputs, from casual comments to tactical instructions, PUBG Ally possesses a deep knowledge of PUBG-specific terminology, player lingo, map locations, and item attributes. It works seamlessly alongside you to secure that coveted chicken dinner. Born from a collaborative AI research and development effort between KRAFTON and NVIDIA, PUBG Ally represents a new generation of AI game characters designed for deeper immersion. Nvidia PR Demoed at the Seoul GeForce Gamer Festival last October, the video above provides an excellent example of the AI Ally in action. It was originally announced for ‘early 2026’ – though that date has obviously slipped. Either way, it’s finally here and is able to communicate with players in English, Korean, or Chinese. Nvidia says it “navigates the environment like a real human”. Nvidia says the bot’s “cognitive system” uses three AI models and runs locally on RTX GPUs with at least 8GB of VRAM. The models are Nvidia Parakeet for speech-to-text, Nvidia Mistral-Nemo-Minitron for content-aware responses in English, and a custom Krafton text-to-speech model that produces “natural-sounding voice responses”. 716Would you buy a bare bones Steam Machine?Would you buy a variant of the Steam Machine with no RAM and/or no SSD and install them separately to help save on costs?
