# Pony AI’s robotaxi sales hit quarterly high, now 33% of revenue

The autonomous driving company's robotaxi segment surged 691% year-over-year as its fleet approaches 2,000 vehicles

Pony AI just posted its best-ever quarter for robotaxi revenue. The company’s Q2 2026 results show robotaxi services pulling in $12.1 million, up a staggering 691.2% from the same period a year ago. That segment now accounts for roughly one-third of total revenue.

## The numbers behind the pivot

Total revenue for Q2 2026 came in at $36.2 million, a 68.8% increase year-over-year. Robotaxi services generated $12.1 million, compared to just $1.5 million in Q2 2025. That 691.2% jump was driven primarily by an 849.3% rise in fare-charging revenue, the money that comes from actual passengers paying for actual rides.

The robotruck business grew at a more modest but still healthy 40.0% year-over-year to $13.3 million.

Sequential momentum looks strong too. In Q1 2026, robotaxi revenue was $8.6 million, itself a 395.4% year-over-year increase, on total revenues of $34.3 million. Going from $8.6 million to $12.1 million in a single quarter represents a roughly 41% sequential jump.

## Fleet expansion and Gen-7 deployment

Pony AI had 1,975 robotaxis deployed by the end of Q2 2026, powered by its Gen-7 vehicles. The company has projected a fleet size exceeding 3,500 vehicles by the end of 2026. Management also highlighted improving operating leverage during the earnings discussion, noting the company is growing revenue faster than it’s growing costs.

Pony AI’s expansion isn’t limited to China. The company has been pushing into international markets for both its robotaxi and robotruck operations, though the bulk of its commercial deployment remains in Chinese cities.

## Context in a crowded field

Pony AI, which trades on NASDAQ under the ticker PONY and the Hong Kong exchange as 2026, operates alongside Alphabet’s Waymo and Baidu’s Apollo Go in the autonomous ride-hailing space.

With an 849.3% year-over-year increase in fare revenue on a fleet that hasn’t grown by nearly that multiple, fare-charging revenue per vehicle stands as the clearest proxy for whether these robotaxis are being used enough to justify their deployment costs.
