The multi-planet RTS game Planetary Annihilation: TITANS has been upgraded, adding co-op support to their fancy Galactic War mode.

What is Galactic War? It's a roguelite campaign where you battle across the galaxy. You start off with nothing and continually expand as you deal with bigger threats and bosses and try to take down different enemy factions. Now you can play through the mode with up to 12 players (or more if you add a launch command).

The mode has multiple ways to play it like sharing one big army, or having your own individual armies. You can also share tech levels, or have individual tech levels too. On top of that it has support for reconnections if you drop-out and it has campaign persistence as progress saves automatically - so any player can resume the game any time with the same players or even different players.

To make things interesting - the AI will scale with you. The AI gets a +20% economy per player, there's more enemy commanders and more. It even supports mods.

When it comes to the Native Linux version, they did announce recently how it had a number of improvements and should run for more players - and they touched on that again in this update to note:

Linux support marches on #

Additionally, we continue work on improving Linux support. We're very happy to announce that a significant number of native Linux distros can now once again run the game. While there are still some issues to iron out, we're grateful to the incredible Linux community for providing testing, logs, and an incredible amount of feedback. Without you, we could not have made it this far.

As for the future of Planetary Annihilation: TITANS that's now being developed by a team of community people, they've expanded and noted they have "a series of major updates in the works, including some major improvements to the system editor".

Sounds awesome.
