# Perplexity open-sources SPACE, the sandbox running every Computer session

**The Apache 2.0 release uses Firecracker microVMs. Perplexity says SPACE has powered all Computer sessions since July and handles millions of sandbox creations per day.**

## Why it matters

Perplexity is publishing infrastructure it says already runs Computer at scale, aiming to use developer adoption and cloud partnerships to make its approach to agent containment a shared runtime.

Perplexity says SPACE has powered every Computer session since July. The company described SPACE as the first component of a broader Agentic Runtime Platform. The release reflects Perplexity's bet on enforcing agent security at the runtime level.
