Perplexity has launched a hybrid AI feature for its Pro, Max, and Enterprise subscribers that splits tasks between cloud models and a small on-device model running on Apple silicon, enabling sensitive files such as tax returns and medical records to be processed locally without leaving the Mac. A privacy gate determines what data can be sent to the cloud, masking or blocking sensitive details by default.
