People are cloning games like Minecraft and Pokémon with Claude Fable 5 in no time

Claude Fable 5 is also capable of beating a Pokémon game without any help

Minecraft and Pokémon cloned using Claude Fable 5

Launched on June 9, Anthropic’s new Claude Fable 5 “Mythos-class” model has been making waves – immediately. Users have been showing exactly how powerful it can be, and when it comes to game development, it’s evident that the latest model is incredibly good at cloning games. It can recreate Minecraft and Pokémon to an impressive level within an hour or less.
It can make these clones in just one prompt, another example being The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. We’re still waiting for someone to recreate one of the Fable games with it, because why not? In any case, Claude Fable 5 launched alongside Claude Mythos 5, the latter featuring fewer safeguards and currently reserved for “a small group of cyberdefenders and infrastructure providers”.

Minecraft and Pokémon cloned using Claude Fable 5
AI news reporter and all-around AI enthusiast @ChrissGPT on X has been playing around with the technology since it was launched. With simple language like “Make a Minecraft clone” and “Make a Pokémon clone,” the AI model returned with ‘stunning’ results in just 20 minutes and 1 hour, respectively. Both examples were one-shot, meaning no iteration was required.

Claude 5 Fable (high) “Make a Minecraft clone”I’m stunned.. it made this in 20 minutes, one shot. Multiple Biomes, day time/night time, different ores, Caves & more! pic.twitter.com/jfiGsalxvx— Chris (@ChrissGPT) June 9, 2026

Claude 5 fable (extra high)“Make a Pokémon clone”1 hour of reasoning, 8k lines – 1 shotThis is incredible! All 151 Gen-1 Pokémon real sprites (front/back), party icons, and actual cries Real base stats, types, level-up movesets, evolutions, catch rates, and growth curves!… pic.twitter.com/EE9RpXLkB1— Chris (@ChrissGPT) June 9, 2026

Of course, both of these examples are pulling from existing data (such as all 151 Gen 1 Pokémon sprites) rather than demonstrating the ability to produce something completely fresh. But it’s impressive either way. Artificial Intelligence’s ability to apply its knowledge to unseen data is known as AI inference, which is seen as the primary focus of AI firms moving forward.

Speaking of Pokémon, Claude Fable 5 is able to beat FireRed without any help
We spotted another user (@ziwenxu_) spending their AI tokens on recreating Minecraft, another example of a one-shot. Produced in JavaScript, it cost the creator 10% of their 5-hour usage window. Further iteration allowed them to add new features not present in vanilla Minecraft, such as a rewind function and a gravity gun. The latter looks particularly fun.
Unsurprisingly, Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5 are Anthropic’s most expensive models to date. Full API, pricing, which is essentially the pay-as-you-go route, can be found here. Output tokens for the two new models cost $50 per million tokens – more than double that of Claude’s Opus models, excluding the deprecated and less-optimized Opus 4.1 model.
In Anthropic’s announcement post, the company delves into the capabilities of the two new models. Benchmarks show Mythos 5 / Fable 5 topping scores across the board in disciplines such as agentic coding and cybersecurity – both of which are aspects of the Claude model that have long been some of its biggest strengths. The table below reveals in-house benchmarks.

64Would you buy a bare bones Steam Machine?Would you buy a variant of the Steam Machine with no RAM and/or no SSD and install them separately to help save on costs? No, I want the Steam Machine to be complete Yes, I would buy a RAM-less version Yes, I would buy an SSD-less version I'd buy a bare bones version with neither component
