WildBrain has acquired Personality AI, a company that develops generative AI experiences that let children interact with popular digital characters.

The deal includes approximately $11 million in cash and one million WildBrain shares, plus another $2 million payable after one year. Personality AI’s owners could receive up to $56 million more if the company meets revenue targets between 2027 and 2029.

Founded in 2025, Personality AI creates conversational AI models for entertainment IP. Its biggest project so far is *Hey Peppa Pig*, an Amazon Kids+ experience developed with Hasbro that lets children speak with Peppa through games and activities.

WildBrain says Personality AI’s technology will complement its own production, franchise management, and licensing businesses, allowing it to build interactive experiences around its own properties and brands.

The company also emphasized Personality AI’s child-safety measures. Its products are certified through the FTC-approved PRIVO COPPA Safe Harbor Program and include moderated interactions, time limits, and age-appropriate knowledge bases. WildBrain says the technology does not store children’s voice recordings or personally identifiable information.

In a [release](https://www.wildbrain.com/trade-news/wildbrain-acquires-personality-ai-a-trusted-partner-for-bringing-beloved-characters-to-life), WildBrain president and CEO Josh Scherba said:

Personality AI enables more continuous interaction between fans and brands, strengthening our ability to deliver end-to-end franchise solutions to partners. This highly complementary acquisition positions us and Personality AI as a more integrated partner to IP owners globally through our in-house licensing agency, WildBrain CPLG, while helping support the continued growth of both our owned and partner brands.

Personality AI founder John Goscha will join WildBrain’s leadership team as executive vice president of Personality AI. Of the arrangement, Goscha added:

I look forward to working with Josh and the WildBrain management team to bring our capabilities to more brands, platforms and audiences around the world while maintaining the high standards of safety, trust and innovation that have defined Personality AI.

The acquisition marks WildBrain’s latest move into AI production following a much less successful [experiment](https://www.cartoonbrew.com/artificial-intelligence/wildbrain-super-mario-bros-super-show-artificial-intelligence-259769.html) earlier this year. The company drew widespread criticism after AI-assisted “restorations” of *The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!* aired on MeTV Toons with warped characters, inconsistent linework, and garbled text.

WildBrain later [described](https://www.cartoonbrew.com/artificial-intelligence/wildbrain-comment-ai-mario-super-show-259792.html) the process as “human-led” and “AI-assisted” and said it was reviewing the affected episodes and working to correct the errors.

The significant investment also comes less than a year after WildBrain [sold](https://www.cartoonbrew.com/business/wildbrain-sells-peanuts-to-sony-257749.html) its remaining Peanuts stake to Sony, a deal that eliminated the company’s debt and gave it greater capacity to invest in new growth opportunities (so maybe kids won’t be able to chill with AI Charlie and the gang just yet). At the time, WildBrain said it could put $50 million to $100 million toward such initiatives.
