Paul Capuccio recently withdraw from representing Dow Jones in its copyright suit against Perplexity. He did so because he has been named Chief Legal Officer of Reddit. Reddit itself is involved in a couple copyright suits against AI companies.

We’re excited to announce Paul Cappuccio as Reddit’s new Chief Legal Officer. Paul brings deep leadership experience as a public company general counsel, executive, and board director, as well as extensive work with emerging growth companies.
Paul will start in mid-September and report to Steve Huffman, Reddit’s Founder and CEO.

Paul worked for nearly two decades as General Counsel of AOL and Time Warner, tackling complex legal challenges and landmark cases for what became one of the world’s largest media companies. He has also served as General Counsel for growth-oriented companies and practiced as a partner at Kirkland & Ellis and Torridon Law.
Paul has also served on the boards of public companies including Chipotle Mexican Grill, RUM Group, and Central European Media Enterprises. He graduated summa cum laude from Georgetown University and magna cum laude from Harvard Law School, where he earned a Sears Prize and served on the Harvard Law Review.

Ben Lee, who has served as our Chief Legal Officer since 2019, will be stepping down, effective September 14. During his tenure, Ben helped guide us through several important milestones, including our IPO in 2024. Ben also created Reddit’s Public Content Policy, which established our framework for protecting user data and responsibly licensing content from our platform.
