Prime Day sales are live, and I’m spotting a fair few high-end gaming monitors at record-low prices. This LG UltraGear dual-mode gaming monitor is one of them, as it’s now down to $684.50 on Amazon, which is its lowest price ever. 
So this monitor is actually seriously high-end, and for the price, it’s pretty competitive considering what you’re getting. It’s an OLED display, so you’re getting deep, inky blacks, exceptional color, and bright highlights, and that’s further enhanced by its gloomy display, which may not be great for well-lit rooms, but genuinely takes OLED monitor’s visuals to a whole new level. It’s dual mode, so you can switch between 4K, 165Hz, and FHD, 330Hz. This gives you pretty much two monitors in one; one essentially for AAA story-driven titles, and one for competitive gaming.

Speaking of competitive gaming, this monitor handles motion incredibly well, as it features FreeSync Premium Pro and a very low response time of 0.03ms. It’s also, as with many top-end OLEDs, very good for creative work, as its 98.5% DCI-P3 color meets industry standards. On top of that, its larger 32-inch sizing is great for more immersive gaming sessions, and also gives you plenty of room for multiple windows or various creative application UIs.

So who’s this for? Well, it offers pretty much unbeatable versatility for those who enjoy a wide range of different games, and want to ensure that their monitor complements them fully, rather than partially, as would be the case with something with a set resolution. It’s also one of the sleeker options on the market, and versatile in an aesthetic sense, too, making it appropriate for both gaming and professional environments. While the price drop is somewhat modest, I’d say that at its best price ever, it’s a seriously tempting deal to consider.

FreeSync Premium Pro for outstanding gaming performance
This is the top-tier FreeSync offering, and it basically reduces screen tearing and stutter, provides low frame rate compensation, and improves HDR gaming performance, which is essential for OLEDs.
Dual-mode resolution is genuinely useful
Personally, I’d go for a dual-mode monitor any day, especially if I was playing competitively at higher framerates, and it’s a very strong all-in-one solution, compared to buying a separate low refresh rate 4K display and a higher refresh rate FHD. I’d argue it’s even a bit more cost-effective, too, and allows you to game in FHD with OLED quality, which is extremely rare to find in an standalone FHD monitor.
Glossy coating enhances perceived picture quality further
Glossy coatings basically make colors pop, blacks appear deeper, and highlights look better, and they’re seriously good when used in the right settings. Some, not all, anti-glare coatings can make picture quality look a little hazy, and not quite as sharp, so these are a good alternative if you’re really looking to get the most visual quality out of your OLED, and don’t mind the odd reflection.
