OpenBrief: A local-first AI reading desk for clearer, more thoughtful summaries A developer built OpenBrief, a local-first AI reading tool that converts pasted articles and technical notes into three summary outputs while explicitly cautioning users against blindly trusting AI-generated answers. The public demo runs on a labeled fallback, with real local inference available through Ollama using the llama3.2:3b model. I built OpenBrief for a friend who regularly reads long articles, research summaries, and technical notes but does not always have time to process everything carefully. OpenBrief turns pasted reading into three useful outputs: I wanted it to be more than a tool that simply makes text shorter. The goal is to help someone understand what they read while also reminding them not to blindly trust an AI-generated answer. The public demo works with a clearly labeled demo fallback. For real local AI inference, install Ollama and run: bash ollama run llama3.2:3b < -- Team Submissions: Please pick one member to publish the submission and credit teammates by listing their DEV usernames directly in the body of the post. -- < -- Thanks for participating --
