OpenAI updates GPT-Live voice for six languages across ChatGPT, Codex and Dots

OpenAI said on October 15th that GPT-Live-1.1, its real-time voice system, is rolling out to ChatGPT, Codex and Dots with new voices in French, German, Hindi, Mexican Spanish, Korean and Japanese. The announcement on X also promises better accents and less spoken progress narration, the audible "checking..." that can make an assistant sound as if it is stuck waiting on its own work. OpenAI said the API version will follow, leaving developers on the earlier model until that update arrives.
