OpenAI is rolling out a collection of improvements to how ChatGPT Voice mode works. ## GPT-6, ChatGPT Work, and plugins First, ChatGPT Voice can now be powered by OpenAI’s three GPT-6 models. [Astra](https://9to5mac.com/2026/09/04/openai-releasing-major-upgrade-to-chatgpt-and-codex-with-gpt-6-astra-details-here/), the most capable, has been out for a few weeks. Sol and Luna, the new medium and small intelligence models were upgraded to GPT-6 [yesterday](https://9to5mac.com/2026/09/22/openai-upgrading-chatgpt-and-codex-with-two-more-gpt-6-models/). Next, OpenAI says that plugins now work with ChatGPT Voice. This includes integration like email, calendar, and Slack. This was a big disconnect for ChatGPT Voice users before, so it should be a highly welcome change. Lastly, ChatGPT Voice now works with ChatGPT Work on the web and mobile. ChatGPT Work is OpenAI’s cloud-connected agentic system that works everywhere. It’s sort of like Codex on the desktop, but available in more places.
