The move reverses a planned Pro 200 cut and keeps the new always-on dots agents on a separate allowance

[OpenAI](https://cryptobriefing.com/markets/openai/) announced on October 29, 2026 that it is doubling usage limits for its ChatGPT Pro 100, Pro 200, Pro 500, and Business Premium tiers.

The timing matters. A cut that would have halved Pro 200 allowances was scheduled to start the very next day, October 30. OpenAI has now reversed it.

## What changed, tier by tier

Pro 200 is the headline beneficiary. Its allowance returns to **20x the ChatGPT Plus baseline**, and the change is effective immediately.

Under the scrapped plan, that tier would have dropped from 20x to 10x the Plus baseline.

Business Premium customers also come out ahead. Their Work and Codex allowances are doubled, and that too takes effect right away.

Pro 500, the newest and highest tier, is included in the increase. The plan debuted at OpenAI’s recent DevDay event and carries a feature no other plan has.

That feature is Ultrafast access. Pro 500 is the only plan offering it, with up to 8x faster token generation in Codex compared to lower-tier plans.

## Dots get their own lane

Alongside the limit increase, OpenAI introduced **dots**, which it describes as always-on agents.

The key detail is how they are metered. Dots will maintain their own extended limits, kept separate from the standard allowances attached to each plan.

## Why OpenAI changed course

The reversal follows substantial feedback from subscribers who were unhappy with how usable Pro 200 had become.

OpenAI’s tier lineup has also grown more layered. Pro 100, Pro 200, Pro 500, and Business Premium now sit above the Plus baseline, each with different allowances and, in Pro 500’s case, exclusive speed features.

## What this means for users and OpenAI

For individual subscribers on Pro 200, the immediate effect is relief. The plan they signed up for keeps its 20x multiple instead of shrinking to 10x.

For developers, the Codex angle is the one to watch. Business Premium’s doubled Codex allowance and Pro 500’s Ultrafast access both point to coding workloads as a priority area for OpenAI’s paid plans.

The separate metering for dots keeps agent consumption apart from regular usage, letting OpenAI price and manage that activity on its own terms.

For businesses, doubled Work allowances on Business Premium reduce the chance that teams hit limits mid-project.
