# OpenAI announces the Admin plugin for ChatGPT Work and Codex

OpenAI’s new ChatGPT Admin plugin lets workspace admins manage users and permissions, analyze usage, and build reports directly from a conversation. Here are the details.

## Admin plugin operates within account permissions

OpenAI today announced the Admin plugin for ChatGPT Work and Codex, a new tool that lets workspace admins update settings, ask questions, and generate reports based on workspace usage and activity data.

With the Admin plugin, admins can complete their day-to-day tasks directly from ChatGPT Work and Codex, including but not limited to:

Understand adoption and usage.Review activity and credit usage across ChatGPT Work and Codex, identify where additional enablement may help and when members or groups are approaching credit limits.Manage members and groups.Add or remove members, update groups, and complete routine onboarding, offboarding, and team changes.Manage access and permissions.Review effective permissions, diagnose access issues, and control feature or model access by role or group.Manage usage limits and spending requests.Adjust limits for members groups, and workspaces, review requests against current usage, and approve or deny them with context.

In a demo of the new plugin, Aarti Bagul, a Member of the GTM Staff at OpenAI, shows a use case in which she is preparing for a monthly AI rollout review. She asks ChatGPT Work how adoption and credit usage have changed across teams over the past 30 days, then requests charts highlighting the biggest changes.

Over the course of the demo, she analyzes trends, asks for additional breakdowns and clarifications, approves usage requests, and eventually has [ChatGPT](https://9to5mac.com/guides/chatgpt/) create a presentation deck and share it to a Slack channel.

Among the possibilities highlighted by OpenAI for the new Admin plugin are automating recurring admin workflows, scaling administration with existing controls, and supporting internal IT operations.

The Admin plugin is now available from the Plugins directory in ChatGPT Work.
