- Premium seats cost $125 monthly or $100 annually and provide five times the usage of Standard seats. [1] - Standard seats remain $25 monthly or $20 annually, with a minimum purchase of two seats. [2] - The new tier is being introduced through a waitlist; OpenAI has not said that Premium includes models unavailable to Standard users.

OpenAI is adding a $125-per-user Premium tier to ChatGPT Business, giving heavy users five times the usage capacity of Standard seats and removing the plan’s five-hour usage limit. Premium seats cost $100 per user with annual billing, while Standard seats remain $25 monthly or $20 annually. [[1]](https://openai.com/index/premium-seats-chatgpt-business/)
The two seat types can be mixed in one Business workspace, allowing administrators to assign Premium access to selected employees rather than upgrading the entire team. OpenAI says Premium usage resets weekly and that customers can add shared workspace credits after reaching a limit. [1]
What Business customers get #
OpenAI’s announcement describes Premium as a capacity upgrade rather than a separate model package. It does not identify any Premium-only models. The company’s current Business documentation says model availability depends on the workspace and rollout status, making the model picker the source of truth. [1][3]
The current public Business pricing page lists access to ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work and Codex, along with tools including deep research, data analysis, workspace agents, company knowledge and connections to workplace services. It shows a two-seat minimum for Business, while OpenAI’s billing guidance confirms that Standard-seat access requires at least two seats. [2][4]
Availability and customer response #
Premium is not yet presented as a generally available Enterprise replacement. OpenAI is asking eligible Business workspace owners to join a waitlist, with some customers receiving early access. The first 10,000 eligible customers can receive $100 in workspace credits for each Premium seat, capped at five seats, if they sign up by August 20, 2026. [1] Enterprise remains a sales-led plan with separate administration, security and support features.
[5]OpenAI says the change follows customer requests for more capacity as teams take on larger projects. Public reaction on August 11 was limited and anecdotal: a Reddit user reported noticing a possible Business usage-limit change and asked whether it was part of the rollout. That is not enough evidence to characterize broader customer sentiment. [1][6]
