Open AI Cellular: Open platform for prototyping and testing AI based 6G

The Open AI Cellular (OAIC) project released OAIC-T v2.0.0, adding RANFusion, a simulator of 5G core network component behavior and performance, with InfluxDB support for storing network data and implemented KPI metrics. The release also adds AI fuzzing that uses genetic algorithms to generate traffic from a set of user equipment in RANFusion to test traffic balancing methods, plus example test scripts. OAIC researchers Vuk Marojevic, Minglong Zhang, Bo Tang and Vijay K. Shah have presented the open-source AI-enhanced O-RAN platform in tutorials at IEEE PIMRC (September 5-8, 2023), IEEE NetSoft (June 19-23, 2023) and IEEE CCNC (January 11, 2023), with Shah presenting the IMPACT xApp at the NTIA RIC Forum on March 26-28, 2024.

We are excited to announce the new release of OAIC-T v2.0.0. The “new” features include: 1. Inclusion of RANFusion, a simulator of behaviors and performances of 5G core network components. 2. Support for InfluxDB in RANFusion to store network behaviors and performances. 3. Implementation of various KPI metrics in RANFusion. 4. AI Fuzzing using genetic algorithms to generate different network traffic from a set of UEs in RANFusion to test traffic balancing methods. 5. Examples of test scripts are provided.
