The role of the Rust Foundation is to create partnerships with external organizations (companies, NGOs, etc.) that lead to investments in the Rust ecosystem for the benefit of all.\n\nAs always, decision-making about the Rust Project remains with the Project, within its own governance structure.\n\nOpenAI is committed to working with the Rust Project’s [Funding Team](https://rust-lang.org/funding/) to find the best ways to support the Rust vision, making use of all the avenues the Foundation and Project have set up for distributing funding, such as the [Project Goals](https://rust-lang.github.io/rust-project-goals/), the [Rust Foundation Maintainers Fund](https://rustfoundation.org/media/help-fund-the-people-who-build-rust/), and the [Rust Innovation Lab](https://rustfoundation.org/rust-innovation-lab/).\n\nFunding is critical to the success of open-source projects. For Rust, the Foundation’s role is to forge industry partnerships that lead to funding. The Rust Project has, and will continue to have, an independent governance structure that charts a path forward for the continued evolution of Rust.\n\n[Blog](https://rustfoundation.org/media/category/blog/)", "url": "https://wpnews.pro/news/on-openai-s-support-for-rust", "canonical_source": "https://rustfoundation.org/media/on-openais-support-for-rust/", "published_at": "2026-06-17 19:41:15+00:00", "updated_at": "2026-06-17 19:53:33.720219+00:00", "lang": "en", "topics": ["developer-tools", "ai-research"], "entities": ["OpenAI", "Rust Foundation", "Rust Project"], "alternates": {"html": "https://wpnews.pro/news/on-openai-s-support-for-rust", "markdown": "https://wpnews.pro/news/on-openai-s-support-for-rust.md", "text": "https://wpnews.pro/news/on-openai-s-support-for-rust.txt", "jsonld": "https://wpnews.pro/news/on-openai-s-support-for-rust.jsonld"}}
