OmniFocus adds Siri AI support as Omni Group updates its apps for iOS 27, macOS 27, more

The Omni Group released OmniFocus 4.9, adding Siri AI support and optional Apple Intelligence-powered date parsing alongside compatibility with macOS 27 Golden Gate, iOS 27, iPadOS 27, watchOS 27, and visionOS 27, CEO Ken Case announced in a blog post titled "Hey Siri, We're Ready!" The update lets users ask Siri to assign and edit due dates, flags, notes, and repeat schedules, and to use onscreen awareness and Visual Intelligence to capture handwritten action items or whiteboard photos into OmniFocus. OmniOutliner 6.3 adds Liquid Glass refinements, and OmniFocus and OmniOutliner gain a new API for searching the Omni Automation API as part of the company's work toward implementing the Model Context Protocol (MCP).

The app can also take advantage of broader Siri AI capabilities, such as onscreen awareness and Visual Intelligence, to help users get things into OmniFocus more quickly: For example, you can pick up a note with hand-written action items and ask Siri to add those items to OmniFocus. Or you can take a picture of a whiteboard and ask Siri to do things with that input. Siri AI can now also leverage the user’s personal context, which in practice means it can answer questions based on the user’s OmniFocus database, summarize actions, suggest items to work on, turn follow-up items from meeting notes into reminders, and more. Other tidbits from the Omni Group’s round of updates this week include: - OmniOutliner 6.3 has also been updated with Liquid Glass refinements across Apple’s platforms. - OmniFocus and OmniOutliner now include a new API that lets users and tools search the Omni Automation API, which should make it easier to pull up the documentation needed to write scripts. - The Omni Group says that work is also part of its effort toward implementing the Model Context Protocol MCP .
