Omarchy – Linux that is capitalizing on AI momentum

Omarchy, a Linux distribution created by David Heinemeier Hansson (DHH), is currently the best at capitalizing on AI momentum, according to a Hacker News discussion. However, the author criticizes Omarchy for creating a walled-in environment that requires users to update via Omarchy and use DHH's separate package repository, which contradicts the openness and control typically valued in Linux.

A month ago I asked, which Linux distribution is best capitalizing on AI momentum. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49129429 The answer seems to be Omarchy right now. I really like Omarchy. I don't agree with all of DHH's apparent opinions, but I don't agree with all of TIm Cook's opinions, Steve Jobs' opinions, Linus Torvalds' opinions, or Bill Gates' opinions either. Omarchy is not a distro, but that's not worth nitpicking about. I have no problem with Omarchy, save one: it seems to ironically create a walled-in Linux environment that requires giving up a fair amount of control for a lengthy bespoke list of stuff. This is mainly apparent with updates; if you install Omarchy, you have to update via Omarchy or risk some mayhem, you use DHH's separate package repo, etc. I'm simplifying, but that's the gist. This seems to go against most of the reasons I like Linux.
