Nvidia has announced a new partnership with Perplexity to bring the latter’s Portable Computer software to Windows PCs via Nvidia GeForce RTX PCs and RTX PRO Workstations. Perplexity originally launched the technology – which runs entirely on device to keep private data local – for Linux on August 25, 2026, but now it’s available on Windows with RTX hardware.
Portable Computer is a local-first agentic AI designed to help users with tasks such as code reviews, analysis, and insights. Despite focusing on local workflows, Portable Computer may also access the web for further research, though it will not do so without a user’s permission. Support is only available for RTX and RTX PRO GPUs with 24GB or more VRAM, so these are your main options:

AI agents can help analyse confidential documents, review code, and tackle recurring work. With Perplexity’s Portable Computer, users can delegate those tasks to an agent running on their own PC. Sensitive files can be processed locally without being sent to the cloud, and on-device work doesn’t consume cloud credits.
Today, Perplexity and NVIDIA are expanding Portable Computer to Windows PCs, bringing accelerated agentic AI to NVIDIA GeForce RTX PCs and RTX PRO Workstations. Developed with NVIDIA, Portable Computer can plan and carry out multistep tasks on device, with NVIDIA GPUs accelerating the models that power the agent.
The agent can help with tasks such as:
- Code reviews: Organise open pull requests in a connected GitHub project, identify next steps and flag outdated documentation.
- Financial analysis: Review brokerage statements and tax documents locally to identify recurring fees, with findings cited to the relevant file and page.
- Business insights: Analyse customer signup data locally to identify where users drop off, then share key findings in a connected Slack channel.
When a task calls for web research or more advanced cloud reasoning, Portable Computer asks for permission before sending content to a cloud service, giving users control over what leaves their device.
Windows support is available for NVIDIA GeForce RTX and RTX PRO GPUs with 24GB or more of VRAM, building on existing support for DGX Spark and RTX PCs running Linux.
