That reflects a 6% to 7.8% discount to the company's closing share price of NT$309.50 on Wednesday in Taipei.\n\nQuanta is tapping the market just as investors are rotating out of chip shares amid growing skepticism over whether massive AI spending will deliver sufficient returns. The company's shares have advanced nearly 16% over the past year, lagging behind the roughly 73% advance in Taiwan's benchmark Taiex.\n\nEven so, the deal extends the wave of capital raising by Taiwanese companies along the AI supply chain. Earlier this month, Unimicron Technology Corp., an Nvidia supplier, raised $1.36 billion from a sale of global depositary shares.\n\nQuanta's issuance of global depositary shares also comes after the pipeline for convertible bonds — a popular instrument among Taiwanese companies seeking to fund the infrastructure needs of the AI boom — faced challenges amid volatility in foreign-exchange markets. The swings have hampered hedging structures typically embedded in such offerings, people familiar with the matter have said.\n\nStill, Nvidia server maker Wiwynn Corp. in March sold $2 billion in bonds that can be converted into stock.\n\nQuanta plans to use proceeds from the sale to buy raw materials in foreign currencies, the terms show. The deal would be the largest offering of Taiwanese shares in dollar terms since Royal Philips NV sold $2.56 billion of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.'s American depositary receipts in 2007.\n\nWith the offering, Quanta and certain shareholders, directors and executive officers are subject to a 90-day lockup. Citigroup Inc. and UBS Group AG are arranging the transaction.\n\n--With assistance from Julie Chien and Julia Fioretti.\n\nMost Read from Bloomberg Businessweek\n\n©2026 Bloomberg L.P.", "url": "https://wpnews.pro/news/nvidia-partner-quanta-seeks-up-to-2-2-billion-from-offering", "canonical_source": "https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/nvidia-partner-quanta-seeks-2-100050526.html", "published_at": "2026-07-29 10:00:50+00:00", "updated_at": "2026-07-29 11:52:44.458908+00:00", "lang": "en", "topics": ["artificial-intelligence", "ai-infrastructure", "ai-startups"], "entities": ["Quanta Computer Inc.", "Nvidia Corp.", "Citigroup Inc.", "UBS Group AG", "Unimicron Technology Corp.", "Wiwynn Corp.", "Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.", "Royal Philips NV"], "alternates": {"html": "https://wpnews.pro/news/nvidia-partner-quanta-seeks-up-to-2-2-billion-from-offering", "markdown": "https://wpnews.pro/news/nvidia-partner-quanta-seeks-up-to-2-2-billion-from-offering.md", "text": "https://wpnews.pro/news/nvidia-partner-quanta-seeks-up-to-2-2-billion-from-offering.txt", "jsonld": "https://wpnews.pro/news/nvidia-partner-quanta-seeks-up-to-2-2-billion-from-offering.jsonld"}}
