# Nvidia moves open security alliance to Linux Foundation > Source: > Published: 2026-09-03 13:25:01+00:00 [Security](/tag/security/) Just over a month after Nvidia launched an Open Secure AI Alliance to address security challenges with open source software, it's handing over responsibility to the Linux Foundation. The alliance, which counts Microsoft, Hugging Face, and Mistral among its members but not OpenAI or Anthropic, was moved to the foundation on 2 September, around five weeks after it [ launched](https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/open-secure-ai-alliance/?ref=thestack.technology) to much fanfare in July. The Linux Foundation said the coalition would “accelerate the development of a shared, open security stack for AI” under its neutral governance. Nvidia launched the alliance to coordinate resources for improving security tools for open source projects after MoonshotAI released its near-frontier-level Kimi-K3 open-weight model, but failed to convince the two top AI labs to join.
