Huang calls cybersecurity the next major AI use case as Nvidia partners with CrowdStrike on a new threat detection system
Jensen Huang has never been shy about telling you what the next big thing is. At the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference on September 10, 2026, the Nvidia CEO pointed to cybersecurity as the domain where AI is about to do its most consequential work yet.
His thesis is simple and sobering: AI-powered attacks are already here, scaling fast, and the only credible response is AI-powered defense.
SafeMind and the CrowdStrike partnership #
Huang’s conference remarks came nine days after a concrete step in that direction. On September 1, Nvidia and CrowdStrike jointly unveiled SafeMind at CrowdStrike’s Fal.Con 2026 event in Las Vegas.
SafeMind was built inside CrowdStrike’s Cyber Superintelligence Lab and runs on Nvidia’s Nemotron large language models. The system is designed to detect threats faster and with greater precision than conventional security tooling.
Huang described CrowdStrike as Nvidia’s “number one cybersecurity partner” and called the launch “an inflection point in cybersecurity.”
The threat landscape making this urgent #
The numbers behind the partnership announcement explain the urgency better than any product pitch could. CrowdStrike reported an 89% rise in AI-enabled cyberattacks over the past year. Meanwhile, the fastest recorded eCrime breakout time, meaning the window between an attacker’s initial access and their lateral movement through a network, has compressed to just 27 seconds.
Huang’s framing at Goldman Sachs was notably economic as well as technical. He characterized cybersecurity AI not just as a protective necessity but as a significant business opportunity, one that Nvidia intends to pursue as a core growth pillar. The company has set a target of 70% revenue growth for the coming fiscal year, and cybersecurity sits alongside its established data center and AI compute businesses as a key contributor to hitting that number.
The open-source dimension #
In July 2026, Nvidia joined the Open Secure AI Alliance, a coalition that also includes Microsoft and IBM. The alliance is focused on developing open-source AI security tools.
