Nutanix is acquiring French software developer Ryax Technologies, founded in 2017 in Lyon by CEO Andry Razafinjatovo and CTO Yiannis Georgiou, to build, run and govern agentic AI across public clouds, private clouds, edge systems and HPC environments. Nutanix will integrate Ryax's GPU utilization and smart scheduling capabilities directly into Nutanix Kubernetes Platform (NKP) and Nutanix Enterprise AI (NAI), with Ryax claiming up to 45% lower compute costs and 10–30% cheaper than mainstream cloud rates in some cases. Nutanix is seeing that organizations can struggle to move AI projects from experimentation into production because of the significant infrastructure integration and manual configuration required. Ryax solves that problem by automating the infrastructure pieces, helping to give Nutanix a unified hybrid cloud operating model. Ryax was founded in 2017 in Lyon, France, by CEO Andry Razafinjatovo and CTO Yiannis Georgiou. It has developed containerized and AI-driven workflow orchestration software with which developers define a workflow by a series of pre-defined actions and triggers. The actions are pieces of containerized code. Ryax’s software then takes this definition and builds the workflow using the actions, and looks after the workflow app packaging, deployment, scheduling, scaling, and monitoring. The workflow app runs on Kubernetes and can also target Slurm clusters for HPC. It plans to integrate the Ryax platform into future releases of NKP and NAI. The Ryax team will join Nutanix in France. The main public clouds automate the provision of agentic AI infrastructure, but only inside their own environments, as does IBM's Watson X, which is available on Red Hat OpenShift. Nutanix' Ryax acquisition gives it a cross-platform capability and a match for IBM. So far Broadcom's VMware does not have a stake in this market. Ryax funding The financial impact of the acquisition is not material to Nutanix. Ryax funding has come from an October 2019 €1.34 million ~$1.47 million seed equity round, a later smaller VC round, thought to be about €400k c$440k and several public grants. The lead and participating investors included IT-Translation, Crédit Agricole Alpes Développement C2AD , and business angels, with additional support from Bpifrance, Banque Populaire Rhône-Alpes, BNP Paribas, and Total Développement Régional.
