Norway's government said on August 4, 2026 that it will send a revised KI-loven proposal implementing the EU AI Act to consultation in autumn 2026 and target a bill for spring 2027, as EEA incorporation and adaptations continue. The EU AI Act is not yet Norwegian law; until the KI-loven is enacted, AI use in Norway remains governed by technology-neutral existing rules including the Personal Data Act (personopplysningsloven) and the GDPR, the Copyright Act, and the Penal Code. The government cautioned that the EU's revised high-risk dates must not be presented as current Norwegian statutory deadlines before incorporation and entry into force.
