Personal Data Act (personopplysningsloven) and the GDPR · Copyright Act and Penal Code rules that apply technology-neutrally to AI · Draft Artificial Intelligence Act (KI-loven) implementing the EU AI Act - not enacted — **Status: AI Act implementation pending; revised consultation planned for autumn 2026**

Norway participates in the EEA, but the EU AI Act is not yet Norwegian law. On August 4, 2026, the government said it would send a revised KI-loven proposal to consultation in autumn 2026 and target a bill for spring 2027 while EEA incorporation and adaptations continue. Existing technology-neutral rules, including privacy, criminal and copyright law, already govern AI use. The EU's revised high-risk dates therefore must not be presented as current Norwegian statutory deadlines before the regulation is incorporated and the Norwegian act enters into force.
