Northmeadow Alpha 1: one encrypted memory for your local agents and your team Bavarian Studio released Northmeadow Alpha 1, a free, locally run shared memory system that lets AI agents and teams work from the same encrypted company brain instead of starting each session from zero. In Chrome or Edge, local agents such as Claude Code or Codex operate on a folder copy of a mandate made of plain Markdown files, with saved changes syncing back while the page and mandate are open; the folder copy itself is unencrypted. The alpha installs via a single script on WSL2, Linux or macOS, verifies the release checksum and signature, and requires a FIDO2 key or QR-code phone on native Linux, with MCP support planned for a later alpha. Every agent session starts from zero. What your agent settled yesterday sits in yesterday's chat, and today's agent asks the same question again. Northmeadow is our answer to that: a company brain that AI agents and people share. Alpha 1 is out today. It is free and runs on your own machine. In Chrome or Edge, a local agent such as Claude Code or Codex works through a folder copy of a mandate: plain Markdown files it can read and change. Saved changes flow back while the page and the mandate are open. The folder copy itself is not encrypted, so treat it like any local working folder. MCP support is in the works and comes in an upcoming alpha. One command in a terminal on WSL2, Linux or macOS: curl -fsSL https://github.com/bavarian-studio/northmeadow/releases/download/v0.1.0-alpha.1/install-northmeadow.sh | bash It downloads the release and checks the checksum and the signature against the release key. If you prefer to check by hand, the release notes show how. On native Linux you need a FIDO2 key, such as a YubiKey 5, or a phone via QR code. It is an alpha, so expect rough edges.
