Hi,

Sorry in advance for the newbie question but I am not sure where to start. I am looking to build my own stand alone AI platform on my home PC using llama.cpp. I am looking to learn something about how these systems are actually put together by doing it and hopefully becoming proficient. My interest id personal and not part of any academic or professional endeavour.

My system is Arch Linux and i have llama.cpp (stand alone cpu edition) installed. I know that I need a LLM installed next, which leads me to this site. My Linux skill level is intermediate and, although I can code, my skill level is home user and not professional. I can see by touring the site that there is a vast array of documentation available as well as extensive help and support. I am just not sure not sure where to start. Can anyone recommends a starting point? A document I should read first or advise if certain skills such as a certain programming language would be useful.

My areas of interest are where AI actually gets it’s information and knowledge base from and how personalities can be created and interacted with. My inspiration comes from those sites where you can design a personality and then interact with it.

Thanks,

JC
