Apple’s new ‘HomePad’ smart home hub is [reportedly](https://9to5mac.com/2026/08/10/apple-has-eight-new-products-to-unveil-at-september-event-report/) launching this fall, and the latest [leak](https://9to5mac.com/2026/08/19/homepad-code-suggests-itll-act-like-a-giant-apple-watch/) about it having customizable ‘faces’ offers another reason to put one in every room of your house.

## HomePad will reportedly have Apple Watch-style ‘faces’ so you can personalize it for every room’s needs

It’s been nearly two years since Mark Gurman [published an extensive report](https://9to5mac.com/2024/11/12/apple-smart-home-ai-release-date/) on the new product commonly called ‘HomePad.’

Apple reportedly intended to launch it in early 2025, but unforeseen delays to Siri AI led the product to get pushed back. Now, we’re expecting it to debut [as early as next month](https://9to5mac.com/2026/08/19/apple-will-launch-10-new-products-soon-with-september-event-coming/).

I’ve been [very excited](https://9to5mac.com/2024/11/13/apples-new-homepad-is-exactly-what-i-want-in-a-home-device/) for the HomePad since those first details were shared. And though the wait has been longer than expected, it’s still one of my most anticipated Apple products.

There are several rumored features that make me interested in putting a HomePad in nearly every room of my house—depending on the price. Those features include:

- Siri AI, which is far more useful than the old Siri
- Slideshows and Memories from Apple Photos
- Security camera functionality
- Apple Music with artwork and lyrics onscreen

But now this week, there’s another addition to the list: customizable Apple Watch-style ‘faces.’

[Filipe Espósito writes at engadget](https://9to5mac.com/2026/08/19/homepad-code-suggests-itll-act-like-a-giant-apple-watch/):

The code reveals that its home screen will feature “Faces” and a “Face Gallery.” Think of them like Apple Watch faces, but bigger. These faces appear to be customizable with different widgets and even Smart Stacks, so you’ll see different widgets throughout the day.

This idea makes the HomePad sound even more versatile than I was expecting. With fully customizable faces, I’ll be able to personalize each HomePad for the room it’s in.

Being able to set different widgets and layouts in the kitchen, living room, each bedroom, and so on only adds to the appeal of buying multiple HomePads.

Here’s hoping the days of HomePad delays are over, and Apple is able to launch the new product very soon.

Are you planning to buy a HomePad? Why or why not? Let us know in the comments.
