The largest Bay Area award will go to Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport, which will receive $28.1 million to rehabilitate more than 10,500 feet of Taxiway W, a project aimed at extending the pavement’s life and reducing debris that could damage aircraft.

Mineta San Jose International Airport will receive $11.5 million to build a new 6,735-foot Taxiway V, bringing the airport into compliance with current Federal Aviation Administration standards.

The funding comes through the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program, which supports projects including runway and taxiway rehabilitation, lighting and signage upgrades, noise mitigation and other infrastructure improvements.

Statewide, 16 California airports will share $107 million for modernization projects. Other major recipients include Long Beach Airport, which will receive $15 million for taxiway reconstruction, and Fresno Yosemite International Airport, which will receive $14.4 million to rebuild one of its runways.
