My Journey as an Autism Mom

An autism mother and MBA graduate founded EZducate, an AI-powered special education platform that generates personalized visual learning materials for children with autism and other learning differences. The founder, who stepped away from her career to advocate for her daughter Amal after Amal's autism diagnosis at age two, built the platform with her family to let parents and therapists create visual educational content in seconds rather than hours.

If someone had told me fifteen years ago that I would one day become the founder of an AI-powered special education platform, I would never have believed them. I earned my MBA in International Tourism in 2009 and envisioned a career in business. Like many young professionals, I had goals, ambitions, and a clear vision for my future. Then I became a mother. On January 11, 2012, my daughter Amal was born. Like every parent, I dreamed of the opportunities that would be available to her and the future she would build for herself. When Amal was diagnosed with autism at the age of two, my world changed overnight. Suddenly, I found myself navigating speech therapy, occupational therapy, evaluations, insurance claims, waitlists, IEP meetings, and countless appointments. We began speech and occupational therapy in 2014, followed by ABA therapy later that year. Even with insurance, the financial burden was overwhelming. Every service seemed necessary, yet every bill reminded me how difficult it was for families to access the support their children needed. As Amal grew, I became her advocate. I attended every meeting I could. I researched therapies, learned special education laws, studied intervention strategies, and spent countless hours trying to understand how to help my daughter succeed. Eventually, I made one of the most difficult decisions of my life: I stepped away from my career to focus entirely on Amal and her needs. It was not a sacrifice I regretted. Being fully present allowed me to learn directly from therapists, teachers, specialists, and other parents. Over time, I accumulated years of practical knowledge about autism, educational services, therapies, accommodations, and the realities families face every day. What began as a necessity slowly became a passion. The more I learned, the more I realized that many families were struggling with the same questions I once had. How do I help my child learn? How do I navigate the school system? Which therapies are right for my child? How can I create educational materials that truly meet my child’s needs? One of my greatest frustrations was seeing how difficult it was for educators and therapists to personalize instruction. Despite their dedication, many were spending hours creating materials manually or relying on outdated resources that could not easily adapt to different learners. At the same time, I noticed something important about Amal. She was a visual learner. Traditional teaching methods often failed to capture her attention, but pictures, visual schedules, graphs, and visual supports helped her understand concepts in ways that words alone could not. Once information became visual, learning became easier, more meaningful, and more engaging. That observation sparked an idea. What if educational content could be personalized instantly? What if parents and therapists could create visual learning materials in seconds instead of hours? What if technology could help bridge the gap between what children need and what families and educators can realistically provide? Those questions eventually led to the creation of EZducate. Together with my family, we began building a platform designed specifically for children with autism and other learning differences. Our goal was simple: create the tools we wished we had when we first started our journey. Today, EZducate provides AI-powered educational resources, visual learning tools, literacy supports, assessment solutions, and collaboration features designed to make special education more accessible, personalized, and effective. The journey has not been easy. Building a company while raising a child with special needs required perseverance, faith, and an unwavering commitment to our mission. There were moments of uncertainty, setbacks, and difficult decisions. Yet every challenge reinforced why this work matters. Because behind every diagnosis is a child with unlimited potential. Behind every therapy session is a family hoping for progress. Behind every educator is someone trying to make a difference. And behind every success story is a community working together to help a child thrive. My journey began as a mother searching for answers for her daughter. Today, it continues as a founder dedicated to helping families, educators, and therapists access better tools, better resources, and better opportunities for the children they support.
