My fix checker found two missing tests. Then it wrote them. A developer released Bite v0.7.0, a fix checker that adds a --write-tests option in which a fresh AI worker drafts a test for each code change no existing test would catch, then verifies the test by running it with and without the change and discarding it if it fails either way. In trials, Bite wrote passing tests for a missing Rich style check and a chi XML compression check at a combined cost of $0.34, and it correctly threw out a first chi attempt after a Go test-runner error, a bug fixed in PR #67. Bite runs on the user's own Anthropic API key with a --budget cap and can open pull requests containing the generated tests via GitHub Actions. In my last post https://dev.to/connabyss/rich-click-and-qs-passed-my-fix-checker-my-checker-didnt-12i2 , Bite https://github.com/connabyss/bite checked some well-known projects and found a few small gaps: changes that no test would notice if they broke.
