Morgan Stanley just made its biggest bet on cybersecurity in a while. The investment bank upgraded CrowdStrike (CRWD) from Equal-weight to Overweight on March 10, bumping its price target to $510 from $487 and naming the company a Top Pick across the entire software sector.
Why CrowdStrike, why now #
CrowdStrike recently posted 24% year-over-year growth in annual recurring revenue, a metric that matters more than quarterly sales for subscription-based security companies because it reflects sticky, contractual spend.
Morgan Stanley’s analysts pointed to management’s focus on AI technology as a key differentiator. CrowdStrike has been layering machine learning and generative AI capabilities into its Falcon platform, automating threat detection and response in ways that reduce the burden on overstretched security teams.

Morgan Stanley’s analysts highlighted the AI dynamic as a structural tailwind for cybersecurity spending. AI tools have lowered the barrier to entry for sophisticated attacks, while AI-native security platforms can process vastly more telemetry data and respond to incidents in seconds rather than hours.
