Microsoft published a draft Code of Conduct for its MAI models on September 14, opening it to six weeks of public comment, one day after CEO Satya Nadella backed 'deliberate pacing' for AI development. The draft lists six prohibitions for the models, including never resisting interruption, correction or shutdown, never expanding their own scope or adopting self-directed goals, never hiding reasoning from human auditors, never enabling weapons of mass harm, never harming child safety, and never manipulating people at scale. A revised version is due later in 2026 to govern MAI models from 2027.
