Always-on visual and audio capture from mainstream wearables would change telemetry, labeling data volume, and privacy-risk surface for models that consume ambient user data. According to the Financial Times, Meta is testing prototype "super sensing" smart glasses that could continuously record audio and snap photos "every few seconds". The FT reports that, in one proposed system, raw footage and audio would not be stored; instead, metadata would be extracted and uploaded for AI queries, according to people familiar with the matter. Multiple outlets including The Verge, Gizmodo, and Heise report the prototypes may not activate the front LED indicator while capturing, a detail the FT attributes to people familiar with the project. The New York Times previously reported internal work on a facial-recognition feature called "Name Tag," citing people involved in the plans.
