Meta launched Seller, a dedicated iOS app for Marketplace power sellers with AI listing creation, unified inbox, and performance insights
Meta has launched Seller, a standalone app built for people who sell regularly on Facebook Marketplace, giving them dedicated tools for managing listings, communicating with buyers, and tracking sales performance in a single place. The free app is available now on the App Store for US users aged 18 and older, and syncs automatically with existing Marketplace listings, messages, and selling history. The launch coincides with Marketplace’s tenth anniversary, a platform that now sees 430 million items listed globally each month.
The centrepiece is AI-powered listing creation. Sellers upload photos and Meta AI fills in the title, description, suggested price, and category, reducing what was once a multi-step process to a quick review and publish. A bulk listing feature lets sellers post multiple items at once, and a unified inbox organises all buyer conversations by item so that no message thread gets lost between the main Facebook app and the new one.
Seller also includes a performance dashboard that surfaces views, clicks, message threads, and completed sales, giving frequent sellers the kind of data that e-commerce platforms like eBay and Etsy have offered for years but Marketplace largely lacked. The app is currently iOS-only, with a web experience for those who download it and Android testing underway. Selling through social platforms has become a serious income source for a growing number of people, and Meta is betting that a dedicated app can keep its most active sellers from drifting to rivals like TikTok Shop and Whatnot.
The Seller app is part of a broader set of Facebook updates announced on the same day. Meta is introducing Facebook Verified, a free badge that confirms a real person stands behind a profile through selfie verification, which will appear on Marketplace, Dating, Groups, and profile pages starting Monday. The company is also testing a full-screen, TikTok-style video feed that would greet users the moment they open the Facebook app, starting in video-heavy international markets later this year with a possible US rollout in 2027.
For Meta, the bet is that Marketplace’s sheer scale, more than a billion active users and a decade of embedded buying habits, can hold its own against purpose-built commerce platforms if the seller experience catches up. The broader shift toward AI-driven commerce is reshaping how people buy and sell online, and Meta is positioning Marketplace as a platform where the AI does the tedious work of listing and the seller focuses on sourcing and shipping. Whether a standalone app is enough to retain power sellers who increasingly have options elsewhere is the question the next year will answer. Get the most important tech news in your inbox each week.
