Meta is quickly iterating on its new Muse AI agent, announcing a bunch of updates today that make the bot more capable and able to chat with you in more ways.
Muse started as a chatbot but will soon be an AI avatar you can talk with over video.
Muse agents are getting their own email addresses that they can use for accomplishing tasks. You’ll also be able to communicate with your Muse agent over the new email addresses, too. In addition, the recently launched Muse Mac app will be getting the ability to use your computer.
Meta is also going to give you another way to chat with its popular AI agent: video calls. Since its recent launch, the primary way to talk with Muse was through a chat interface, but you’ll soon be able to have live video conversations with your Muse avatar. Meta will let you tweak the way your Muse avatar sounds — you can already customize the way it looks — and a new Muse Realtime Avatar model will inform how it moves.
Muse launched earlier this month, and it’s seemingly proving to be a hit, topping the App Store charts and reportedly being downloaded more than ChatGPT on mobile in its first 12 days. Meta appears to be capitalizing on the popularity by quickly introducing the new videocalling features, but that’s not all that’s new for the agent. Meta says it plans to launch Muse on its smart glasses in the coming months, which will let you talk to Muse about what you’re looking at while wearing your glasses.
