About MCP Python SDK (official) #
The official MCP Python SDK implements servers and clients in Python. Version 2, the current stable line, was reworked to support the 2026-07-28 specification and every earlier revision; version 1.x continues on its own branch with critical fixes and security patches. A server fits in about fifteen lines, and a CLI runs servers over stdio or streamable HTTP.
