Mammotion’s New Robot Mower Is Joining the Edge-Cutting Arms Race

Mammotion unveiled the Luba 4 AWD robot lawn mower at IFA 2026 in Berlin, featuring 360-degree LiDAR, NRTK satellite tracking, and AI-powered vision cameras, with an optional edging arm for trimming near obstacles. The three models—3000F, 6000F, and 12000F—offer mowing areas from 3,000 to 12,000 square meters, and the mower includes a detachable battery with 210-watt fast charging. Mammotion has not announced a U.S. release date, and the product may be affected by the U.S. foreign robotics ban.

Robomower company Mammotion has debuted a new product at IFA 2026 called the Luba 4 AWD. Once again, it looks like a little race car, but it also has a number of improvements that could make it a better mower than the Luba 3 AWD that preceded it, including an optional trimming arm that extends off the side of the mower for true edge trimming.

There will be three models of Luba 4 AWD: the 3000F, 6000F, and 12000F. All three will use 360-degree LiDAR, NRTK satellite tracking, and AI-powered vision cameras for navigation, making the Luba 4 AWD more reliable in areas near tall buildings or filled with satellite-blocking tree canopies. Mammotion says in addition to getting rid of satellite dead zones, it will also help avoid map drift that can lead to the mower cutting outside its assigned boundaries. (The Luba 3 AWD, for comparison, used LiDAR and cameras, but not NRTK.)

As for the trimming accessory, that’s an attachable arm that stretches out from the back of the Luba 4 AWD and reaches out to cut by the edges of buildings, sidewalks, and other areas where non-arm-having robot mowers can’t reach with their normal mowing blades. Without that, you’d be relying on the razor-bladed cutting discs beneath the robot. That it’s not included with the mower by default is a little disappointing, however, and Mammotion did not share with me how much it will cost. Dreame’s new A4 AWD Pro, on the other hand, comes with an edging arm already attached.

The main differences between the three mowers lie in range and cutting width and height. The 3000F and 6000F can mow 3,000 square meters (0.74 acres) and 6,000 square meters (1.5 acres), respectively, and both feature two cutting discs that can cut a 17.3-inch swath, from between 1 and 3.9 inches tall. The 12000F can cover 12,000 square meters (nearly 3 acres), has three cutting discs, and can cut grass between 1 and 3.3 inches tall. Its cutting width is 20.9 inches.

Mammotion is also doing away with its omnidirectional front wheels and replacing them with turning front wheels, similar to the Segway Navimow X4. That should mean the Luba 4 AWD is gentler on your lawn and less likely to wear bald patches when it turns around, a problem I experienced with the omnidirectional wheels of the Dreame A3 AWD Pro when I reviewed it in August.

Finally, the Luba 4 AWD features a detachable battery that fast charges at up to 210 watts. Mammotion says that its app supports offline voice control for the mower via its app, as well as remote video monitoring. The company promises to release new AI capabilities in future updates, as well. Mammotion hasn’t announced a U.S. release date, but I wouldn’t hold my breath. I’d be surprised if it isn’t snagged in the great and terrible filter that is the U.S. foreign robotics ban.
