Precisely's new Platform is a unified data management offering designed to make more enterprise data AI-ready, with MCP support and an AI Studio.
Mainframe-to cloud and data integrity supplier Precisely says it’s built on a single metadata and semantic foundation, and provides data integration, quality, governance, location intelligence, master data management, and customer communications capabilities to create a trusted data layer for AI models and agents. Enterprise data is spread across cloud environments and data lakehouses, on-premises systems, and established platforms like mainframe and SAP. The Precisely Platform provides a unified way to help manage and improve data where it lives, without requiring migration to a single data ecosystem. Its integrated data management capabilities share services for semantics, data cataloguing, observability, data pipelines, workflow, and AI management.
Precisely Chief Product Officer Matt Waxman, ex-Arctera and Veritas, said: “Agents don't stop to question the data they're given. They act on it at scale, far faster than people can catch and correct errors. The challenge is knowing what data is being used, whether it’s fit for purpose, and whether the right governance and accountability are in place. The Precisely Platform gives business leaders the visibility and evidence they need to scale AI responsibly and with the confidence to prove it."
Precisely has history, 58 years of it, going back to Whitlow Computer Systems which was started up in 1968 in New Jersey, and its SyncSort product, faster than IBM’s in-house mainframe data sorting software. It became a popular independent sort product. Whitlow rebranded as Syncsort (lower-case second S) in 1981. It bought Trillium in 2016, and Pitney Bowes’ software and data business in 2019 to expand from its core mainframe and IBM i/AS400 sorting and data moving-to-analytics-platforms. Pitney Bowes gave it the ability to clean data, match it, enrich it with 3rd party information, and add location context. It rebranded again to Precisely in 2020, because the company pitch was more bout data integrity across integration, quality, enrichment, and location, than mainframe and i/AS400 connectivity.
The company is owned by private equity, including Clearlake Capital and TA Associates and its core pitch is now about unlocking mainframe data for analytics and AI while leaving transactional workloads in place.
It’s now unveiled three offerings aimed at making the data it presents to AI models and agents better quality. The Precisely Platform has built-in data enrichment and location intelligence, and provides hundreds of pre-linked datasets including location and business attributes. Address verification and geocoding validate, cleanse, and standardise addresses and assign coordinates to each record. Spatial analytics help users discover and visualise patterns, trends, and relationships between location-based datasets. These capabilities create a connected, machine-readable model of the world that AI can use to make more informed decisions and take more effective action.
User staff can access and apply Platform capabilities directly within the tools, workflows, and AI models they already use, without changing how they work. They can do so using Gio, the Precisely Platform AI assistant, as well as APIs, SDKs, and a command-line interface.
New Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, also announced today, extend connectivity to multiple products across the Precisely portfolio, allowing teams to connect the Precisely Platform and their existing Precisely investments directly to MCP-compatible AI clients like Claude, Microsoft Copilot, and ChatGPT.
MCP support
Initial MCP server support enables MCP-compatible AI agents and assistants to work across the Precisely Platform suite, and includes:
- Precisely Automate initiates and interacts with SAP automation workflows while maintaining the organisation's own governed business processes.
- Precisely Data360 prepares and analyses data using Data360 Analyze to create, inspect, update, and run data flows.
- Precisely EngageOne connects customer communications workflows using EngageOne RapidCX, including triggering new communications, inspecting communication activity, and customer engagement history, with all requests scoped to the user and recorded in an audit log.
- Precisely EnterWorks enables natural-language search across master data, helping users find and understand data without navigating MDM structures.
- Precisely Spectrum enables trusted address verification, geocoding, data enrichment, and job and dataflow management.
- Precisely Trillium helps cleanse, match, and validate records using trusted business rules.
- Precisely Syncsort optimises mainframe sorting; explaining messages, troubleshooting jobs, and generating sort, copy, and merge logic grounded in Syncsort MFX documentation and knowledge base articles. These capabilities will be available in the coming months.
AI Studio
Precisely also announced the availability of Precisely AI Studio, a collection of ready-made apps, agents, and skills that help builders develop AI offerings. The assets in AI Studio work with AI tools, including Claude, Microsoft Copilot, and ChatGPT. Builders can avoid starting from scratch, with working examples that show how to make data AI-ready, using capabilities available in the Precisely Platform, such as data quality and enrichment.
Availability
The Precisely Platform is in preview and will be generally available in early 2027. For more information go here.
