{"slug": "main-x-is-now-generally-available-production-ready", "title": "Main-x Is Now Generally Available, Production-Ready", "summary": "Anaconda Inc. announced that its main-x channel is now generally available and production-ready, extending the main channel with over 10,000 additional packages, now including CVE data and SBOMs. The channel provides high-value AI and ML packages such as Microsoft's agent-framework-core, Google's google-adk, a2a-sdk, and mem0ai, and is available to all authenticated Anaconda users under the same terms as the main channel.", "body_md": "## What’s New\n\nToday `main-x`\n\nis generally available (GA), and with it comes features that we have added since [the open beta launch](/blog/main-x-channel-more-packages-trusted-source): CVE data, SBOMs, and even more packages.\n\nQuick refresher: `main-x`\n\nis an authenticated Anaconda channel that *extends* the `main`\n\nchannel by adding over 10,000 packages to your existing setup, all built and maintained by Anaconda with the guarantees you expect (license validation, malware scanning, typosquat protection, and compatibility testing). Log in, add one channel, and thousands more packages resolve through `conda install`\n\n.\n\nThe beta launch immediately tackled the `PackagesNotFoundError`\n\n, which you may have run into when using the `main`\n\nchannel alone. You likely had to resort to pulling packages from community sources, like conda-forge and PyPI. The `main-x`\n\nchannel drastically expands Anaconda’s coverage of the Python ecosystem and provides the most high-value packages for AI and ML use cases via the secure supply chain you already trust.\n\nAs of today, CVE data and SBOMs are available in Anaconda Platform for `main-x`\n\n(just like we do for main) and, most importantly, thousands more packages have been added and will continue to be added as we monitor the ecosystem to add the most high-value packages for our users.\n\n## What’s In `Main-x`\n\nThe `main-x`\n\nchannel provides the most popular packages on PyPI (by download count), informed by the workflows our users care about most, including AI and agentic development. A few examples of what you’ll find in the channel:\n\nMicrosoft’s production-ready SDK for building AI agents and multi-agent workflows, with support for graph-based orchestration and patterns like sequential handoff and group chat. Teams building on Azure AI Foundry or OpenAI can pull it straight from`agent-framework-core:`\n\n`main-x`\n\n.Google’s open-source agent development kit for building, evaluating, and deploying agents at scale. It’s the same framework Google uses internally for Agentspace, so it’s built for production, not demos.`google-adk:`\n\nThe Python SDK for Google’s agent-to-agent protocol, an open standard that lets agents from different frameworks and vendors discover and talk to each other. It’s the interop layer for multi-agent systems.**a2a-sdk:**\n\nA persistent memory layer that gives agents long-term recall across sessions, so they remember context and preferences instead of starting cold every time. Integrates with most major agent frameworks.**mem0ai:**\n\nYou can see what’s available in `main-x`\n\nby [browsing the channel](https://anaconda.org/channels/main-x) directly.\n\n## Give It a Shot\n\n`main-x`\n\nis available to any authenticated Anaconda user, under the [same terms as the main channel](/legal/terms/terms-of-service).\n\nIf you’re already set up from beta, you don’t need to do anything. The CVE data and SBOMs are available now in the Anaconda Platform. If you’re starting fresh, log in and add the channel:\n\n```\nanaconda login\nconda config --append default_channels https://repo.anaconda.cloud/repo/main-x\n```\n\nOr, if you are already using our newest [Anaconda CLI](/blog/anaconda-cli-next-gen) (ana) you can set it up using the following command:\n\n```\nana feature enable main-x\n```\n\n`main-x`\n\nis natively available to Anaconda Platform users: add the channel with the same command above, no separate login needed. For Package Security Manager, an administrator must mirror main-x into your instance first, and then you can point at your organization’s mirrored channel. Full instructions can be found in our [documentation](https://anaconda.com/docs/getting-started/main-x).\n\n## What’s Next\n\nWe’ll keep expanding coverage in both `main`\n\nand `main-x`\n\n, prioritizing the packages that matter most as the AI ecosystem evolves. The packages we add next are also heavily driven by what users request. Longer-term, we’re scoping toward the roughly 50,000 packages that make up 99% of PyPI’s download traffic.\n\nThe best next step is to add the channel and try installing the package that sent you outside Anaconda last time. If it’s still missing, [let us know](https://anaconda.canny.io/packages-installers).
