The right-wing lawmaker blasted journalists who use her swimsuit modeling photos as ‘clickbait’

MAGA Rep. Anna Paulina Luna defended her staff’s use of AI to check the summary of a bill — then hit out at those in the media who use photos from her past modeling career for “clickbait.”
This week, the right-wing lawmaker faced allegations that she used Anthropic’s Claude AI system to help draft an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act. Luna quickly responded on X, writing that her staff used AI to “spell/grammar check the amendment summary, not the actual amendment text itself.”
When reporter Pablo Manríquez asked Luna about these claims Wednesday, she defended her staff further before hitting out at the Daily Mail and reporters who use photos from her past modeling career as “clickbait.” Before she was first elected to represent Florida’s 13th congressional district in 2022, the 37-year-old served in the military and worked as a model for multiple publications.
“The majority of people do use AI to mass spell-check, but it’s actually not legal for people to actually submit legislation to the House on that, and actually we issued a statement clarifying it,” Luna told Manríquez.
“We actually made fun of the person who did that because they also used my swimsuit photos from my … previous modeling career to try and say that me pushing for issues like banning insider trading is doing it for attention. So I would say that you're probably a more reputable outlet than the Daily Mail,” she said.
Manríquez then asked what Luna makes of people using photos from her past career.
“I mean, they’re not photoshopped. I just think that if you’re going to be considered a legitimate journalist, and then you’re using my swimsuit photos — which, by the way, I love a swimsuit, and it’s not a bad photo — but if you’re using it for clickbait, then maybe you should probably go touch some grass,” she replied.

In another X post addressing the controversy, Luna wrote, “NO Legislation is ever drafted with AI.”
“All bill text from the House comes from the House Legislative Council which is prohibited from using AI. The screenshot you’re referencing is an AI summary of the bill that’s also used for spellcheck, c’mon man,” she added.
Luna was first elected to represent Florida’s 13th congressional district in 2022 – and has since emerged as a staunch ally to President Donald Trump and other right-wing lawmakers. Last year, she even went viral for drafting a proposal to add the president’s face to Mount Rushmore, citing his “remarkable accomplishments for our country.”
