Koo Ja-eun urges wider AI adoption to boost efficiency and improve products
LS Group Chairman Koo Ja-eun urged employees to turn artificial intelligence into tangible business results, calling for its wider use to improve manufacturing efficiency and strengthen products and services.
Speaking at the fifth LS Future Day at LS Tower in Anyang, Gyeonggi Province, Friday, Koo said the group should embrace AI adoption and move faster than its industry peers.
Launched in 2022 after Koo took office, the annual event brings together employees across the group to share new business proposals, research progress and operational improvements.
This year’s theme, “Beyond AI exploration to business outcomes,” underscored the push to translate experimentation into commercial applications. About 500 executives and employees attended, including the holding company’s and affiliates’ chief executives and leaders overseeing operations, technology and digital strategy.
Participants presented 19 projects, including AI-driven cable manufacturing and a power protection platform designed to improve reliability at AI data centers.
Some teams used AI coding tools to build early working versions of their products. Others presented AI-generated videos simulating customer feedback scenarios.
A separate LS Future Forum held the same day examined physical AI and its applications in manufacturing.
Speakers included Yoon Song-yee, founder and managing partner of Principal Venture Partners; Yoon Sung-roh, professor of electrical and computer engineering at Seoul National University; Kim Jang-hyun, partner at Boston Consulting Group; and Kwon Seok-joon, professor of chemical engineering at Sungkyunkwan University.
LS said Future Day has helped the group explore more than 500 business ideas in areas including batteries, next-generation power solutions and AI, with some advancing to commercialization.
Affiliate LS Electric recently launched a solar power generation service platform that was selected as the event’s best business idea last year. LS Mtron plans to commercialize seven projects, including compact tractors tailored to the North American market.
