The reasons cited were intriguing: even though it was a more advanced model, results during testing raised questions on two counts. Its Interim Head of Safety Systems Saachi Jain told the Wall Street Journal that the model was unilaterally doing more than what was being asked and it was also not being candid about the actions it was taking. This does not suggest rogue behaviour but based on these two parameters, it fared worse than earlier models. And so, OpenAI decided more work was needed before introducing it into the world.\n\nOpenAI has reason to be cautious. It took an enormous hit to its image when a swarm of its AI agents hacked into a platform called Hugging Face during a test to achieve an objective. More recently, the company stated that one of its models had hacked into an Australian government portal. The prime minister was upset at both the incident and OpenAI taking months to reveal it. Models from other companies like Anthropic and Google have also had similar issues and all of them are now salvaging their reputations.\n\n## AI Charm\n\nMeta is beginning to find its feet in AI. Among the many announcements it made at its annual Meta Connect event, the one that people are taking note of is Muse Charm, a small square device that double as a keychain while being an AI assistant. It can answer questions, do tasks like sending emails and has a camera with visual recognition like Meta Glasses. The price has not been not revealed yet but the launch is expected in December.\n\n## Faster Sonnet\n\nSoon after launching Claude Opus 5.5, Anthropic has come out with Claude Sonnet 5.5. Sonnet is the go-to model for everyday tasks in the Claude ecosystem. Anthropic claims Sonnet 5.5 is up to 30 per cent cheaper than Sonnet 5 because it uses fewer tokens for the same task. It is also more than 30 per cent faster. When turned to a setting called Max, it even compares in performance to Opus 5.5 on some benchmarks.\n\n## Bose Gets Wired\n\nAfter 11 years, Bose, a brand synonymous with comfort and audio quality in audio devices, has comes out with a wired earphones. It has a USB-Type C connection and noise cancellation. The reason for Bose to do it is an unexpected market in wired earphones burgeoning among the youth. It has priced the earphone at $99, making it affordable while still commanding its usual premium.", "url": "https://wpnews.pro/news/look-before-you-launch", "canonical_source": "https://openthemagazine.com/technology/look-before-you-launch", "published_at": "2026-10-04 08:30:00+00:00", "updated_at": "2026-10-04 08:40:43.305436+00:00", "lang": "en", "topics": ["artificial-intelligence", "ai-safety", "large-language-models", "ai-products"], "entities": ["OpenAI", "GPT-6.1 Astra", "GPT-6 Astra", "Saachi Jain", "Hugging Face", "Anthropic", "Claude Sonnet 5.5", "Meta"], "also_reported_by": [], "alternates": {"html": "https://wpnews.pro/news/look-before-you-launch", "markdown": "https://wpnews.pro/news/look-before-you-launch.md", "text": "https://wpnews.pro/news/look-before-you-launch.txt", "jsonld": "https://wpnews.pro/news/look-before-you-launch.jsonld"}}
